Autonomous Zones

Autonomous Zones is a unique traveling exhibition about the Emerging Artists in Residence program at Pilchuck Glass School. This exhibition highlights 25 artists from the program’s 31-year history who create exceptional work representing the emerging throughlines of thought, experimentation, investigation, and exploration.

Established on the principles of its founders in the bucolic, wild and untamed surroundings of the Cascade Mountains, Pilchuck is an alternative community of artists with shared values developing their creative potential together. As such, Pilchuck is a literal “autonomous zone’ where freedom from the outside and freedom of expression reign.

The exhibition will be presented jointly by Traver Gallery, BWA Wrocław Galleries of Contemporary Art, and Pilchuck Glass School. It is scheduled to open in Seattle on July 7, 2022, and will be on exhibit through July 30, 2022. Following the Seattle exhibition, the show will Travel to Wroclaw, Poland, for exhibition at BWA Wrocław Galleries of Contemporary Art, September–December 2022.
